Our Story

In 2002, Mario (Mariappa Thomas) got a small contract to mow a couple of National Forest campgrounds. Armed with a second-hand riding mower, push mower, and a trimmer, he and his brother worked all summer long. After a couple of years, Mario purchased a couple of ZTR's, and the business grew. Today, Lawn & Snow Outdoor Maintenance is the largest lawncare and landscaping company in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

A Natural Move

As the largest customer of the local small engine repair, Dan's Small Engine Repair, Mario and Dan became friends over the years. When Dan decided it was time to sell his shop, it was a natural fit for Mario to take the reins and move the business into a new era, and Mario's Outdoor Power Products was born.

Today

In 2025, Mario's purchased Gaastra Welding's 6,400 square foot facility on Selden Road in Iron River. The family and team set to work turning it into a beautiful showroom and full service repair center. Mario's was already a licensed Stihl and Husqvarna dealer, and they added Gravely and Ariens, making their selection unbeatable. Today, Mario's Outdoor Power Products is the region's largest dealer and full-service repair. We offer Gravely Ariens Stihl and Husqvarna equipment, and service any brand to keep all your outdoor projects fully-powered.
